Tom Zé song lyrics

Tom Zé is a Brazilian songwriter and composer born in Bahia, Brazil in 1936. He started his career in popular music in São Paulo, with an advanced degree in music in Salvador.

 

Tom Zé contributed to the Tropicalia movement, along with Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa and Nara Leão. But although tropicalia musicians had great commercial success, Tom Zé slipped into obscurity in the 1970s and 1980s. But he remained true to the experimental and dada impulses of tropicalia and he developed his unorthodox approach to melody and instrumentation, employing unique instruments such as a typewriter. In the early 1990s, Ze's work experienced a revival with the American musician David Byrne discovering one of his albums.
