Astrud Gilberto song lyrics

Astrud Gilberto is a Brazilian singer, famous for her samba and bossa nova music. Daughter of a Brazilian mother and a German father, she was born in March 29, 1940 and grew up in Rio de Janeiro. She is married to João Gilberto since 1959.

 

Because of her excessive stage fright, Astrud Gilberto didn’t perform in night-clubs for many years, felling intimidated by the closeness of the audience in clubs. Astrud Gilberto received in 1992 the "Latin Jazz USA Award for Lifetime Achievement" and in 2002 she has been inducted to the "International Latin Music Hall of Fame". Astrud Gilberto announced in 2002 that she is taking "indefinite time off" from public performances.
