Elizeth Cardoso

Elizeth Cardoso was a Brazilian singer, born in São Francisco Xavier, Rio de Janeiro, on July 16, 1920. She started singing when she was only 5 years old. When she was 16, Elizeth Cardoso was discovered by Jacob do Bandolim, who helped her to sing at Rádio Guanabara. She became one of the most important singers from Brazil in the 1930s and 1940s.

In 1951 she had her first success, Canção de Amor, de Chocolate e Elano de Paula and in 1958 she entered in the Brazilian folk music with the release of her first album, Canção do Amor Demais. This album became the symbol of the beginnings of bossa nova. In the 1960s, Elizeth Cardoso was very present in many TV shows. She later became associated with samba music and before she died, on May 7, 1990, Elizeth was one of the most famous Brazilian singers.
