Adriano Correia de Oliveira

Adriano Correia de Oliveira, also known as Adriano, was a Portuguese musician, born in Avintes, near Porto, in 1942, April 9. Famous for its music and lyrics against the Estado Novo dictatorial regime, Adriano was a respected musician among the democratic resistance and a persecuted person by the political police. He was member of the Portuguese Communist Party and friend with the socialist Manuel Alegre, who wrote lyrics for many of his songs.

Presently, the lyric tenor voice of Adriano is appreciated as remarkable even by people who don’t understand Portuguese language. Adriano Correia de Oliveira died at the age of 40, in 1982, May 16, due to a sudden disease.
