Braguinha song lyrics

Braguinha

Braguinha is the stage name of Carlos Alberto Ferreira Braga, also known as Carlinhos or João de Barro. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, on March 29, 1907. He became attracted by music after he met violinist Henrique Brito and formed the band Flor do Tempo together with Almirante, Noel Rosa, Henrique Brito and Alvinho. In 1929, the band changed its name into Bando de Tangarás and Braguinha started using the name of João de Barro because his father didn’t want the name of his family to be used in the popular music. The band recorded soon an album and had a huge success with the samba song Na Pavuna, due to 1930 carnival.

Soon after, Braguinha started focusing on composing songs.  His complete work includes more than 420 popular music songs. He was for many years the artistic executive of the recording studio Columbia. In 1997, when he celebrated his 90 years of life, Braguinha received many honors and awards for his entire career.
